The marriage of advanced manufacturing techniques with information technology, data, and analytics is another industrial revolution—one that invites manufacturing leaders to combine operations and information technology to create value in new and different ways.
With the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), data becomes a source of value, in addition to physical objects—and connectivity makes it possible to build smarter supply chains, manufacturing processes, and even end-to-end ecosystems.
But as IoT begins to reshape the competitive landscape, manufacturers must decide how and where to invest in new technologies, and identify which ones will drive the most benefit for their organizations.
In addition to accurately assessing their current strategic positions, successful manufacturers need a clear articulation of their business objectives, identifying where to experiment in newly emerging technology ecosystems. They need to overcome the inertia of legacy operations and develop a test-and-learn approach.
Amid all the hype about IoT, many companies are unclear as to what all this connectivity means for their companies—and for the broader manufacturing ecosystem.
In this interactive webinar, Mark Cotteleer, co-author of the Industry 4.0 report on IoT and Manufacturing, explores the opportunities and challenges in this shift. He will explore how companies are using the digital information from many different sources and locations to drive the physical act of manufacturing. Cotteleer will also set up a framework for companies of any size who are integrating IoT into their operations.
